Abstract

The School Procurement Information System (SIPLah) platform is a digital service designed for educational institutions to conduct online procurement of goods and services. However, its implementation still faces various obstacles related to ease of use, which impact the effectiveness and frequency of use of the platform. This study aims to improve the usability of SIPLah through a systematic evaluation using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method and the development of an alternative interface design based on User-Centered Design principles. The research phase includes problem identification, data collection through SUS questionnaires and interviews, user needs analysis, and the development of a new interface prototype that focuses on streamlining the flow, improving readability, and optimizing the user experience. The evaluation results show that the usability value of the existing version obtained an SUS score of 47.0, which is included in the Poor category, thus indicating the need for improvements in the interface and user experience aspects. Based on the results of the user needs analysis, a redesign of the SIPLah interface was carried out, resulting in a prototype with a simpler navigation structure, a more organized information layout, and a more intuitive visual display. The results of testing the prototype showed an increase in the SUS score to 86.4, which is included in the Excellent category. This resulted in a 39.4-point increase in usability compared to the previous system. These results indicate that the developed alternative design improved ease of use, information clarity, and the overall user experience. This research is expected to provide recommendations for the development of SIPLah to sustainably improve the quality of school procurement services.
