Abstract

Kajian ini mengevaluasi kemampuan ekstrak sabut buah lontar (Borassus flabellifer Linn.) dalam menghambat korosi baja ST37 pada media HCl 1 M dengan menerapkan variasi konsentrasi inhibitor sebesar 50, 100, 150, 200, dan 250 ppm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak sabut buah lontar mampu mengurangi degradasi permukaan baja ST37 akibat korosi, dengan perlindungan optimum pada konsentrasi 100 ppm berdasarkan hasil SEM-EDX dan AFM. Analisis polarisasi Tafel menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak bertindak sebagai mixed-type inhibitor dengan dominasi anodik. Efisiensi inhibisi tertinggi sebesar 88,40% diperoleh pada konsentrasi 100 ppm. Pada konsentrasi tersebut, densitas arus korosi menurun dari 479.12 menjadi 121.86 µA·cm⁻², laju korosi menurun dari 5.62 menjadi 1.43 mm/tahun, dan nilai charge transfer resistance meningkat dari 41.72 menjadi 190 Ω·cm². Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak sabut buah lontar berpotensi sebagai inhibitor korosi hijau yang efektif untuk melindungi baja ST37 dalam media HCl 1 M.
