Abstract

Peningkatan timbulan sampah di Kota Balikpapan menyebabkan bertambahnya volume air lindi yang mengandung logam berat besi (Fe) dan seng (Zn) maka diperlukan metode pengolahan efektif. Penelitian dilakukan untuk menganalisis pengaruh variasi konsentrasi NaOH 1 M, 3 M, dan 5 M terhadap karakteristik fly ash dan kemampuannya sebagai material penyerap untuk mengurangi kandungan logam Fe dan Zn yang terdapat dalam air lindi. Hasil pengujian SEM menunjukkan aktivasi NaOH 3 M merupakan kondisi optimum yang menghasilkan morofologi permukaan paling berpori dengan ukuran pori rata-rata 0,523 ????????. Hasil pengujian BET menunjukkan aktivasi NaOH 3 M juga merupakan kondisi optimum dengan luas permukaan spesifik tertinggi sebesar 19,9622 m2/g yang menunjukkan situs aktif adsoprsi lebih banyak. Hasil pengujian AAS menunjukkan aktivasi NaOH 5 M memberikan kemampuan adsorpsi terbaik dengan efisiensi penurunan logam Fe sebesar 93,54% dan Zn sebesar 62,80%. NaOH 3 M merupakan konsentrasi aktivasi paling optimum untuk meningkatkan karakteristik fisik fly ash dan NaOH 5 M merupakan konsentrasi optimum untuk memperoleh efektivitas adsorpsi logam Fe dan Zn tertinggi.
