Abstract

Penurunan ketersediaan bahan bakar fosil dan meningkatnya kebutuhan energi mendorong pengembangan biodiesel sebagai energi terbarukan. Tugas akhir ini membahas pra-rancangan pabrik biodiesel berbahan baku crude palm oil (CPO) melalui proses esterifikasi dan transesterifikasi. Proses esterifikasi menggunakan katalis H₂SO₄ untuk menurunkan kadar asam lemak bebas, sedangkan transesterifikasi menggunakan katalis NaOH untuk menghasilkan Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) atau biodiesel dan gliserol sebagai produk samping. Pabrik dirancang beroperasi secara kontinyu selama 24 jam/hari dengan kapasitas produksi 500.000 ton/tahun. Berdasarkan pemilihan lokasi, Kaltim Industrial Estate (KIE) Bontang dipilih sebagai lokasi pabrik karena didukung akses bahan baku, utilitas, dan infrastruktur. Hasil evaluasi ekonomi menunjukkan TCI sebesar Rp908.607.467.776, TPC sebesar Rp3.389.307.092.767, ROI 59%, BEP 51,49%, SDP 23,38%, DPBP 3 tahun 8 bulan, DCFR 47,60%, dan NPV positif. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, pabrik biodiesel ini layak didirikan.
