Abstract

Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) merupakan metode penyambungan yang banyak digunakan pada industri otomotif, namun memiliki keterbatasan karena memerlukan akses dari dua sisi benda kerja dan peralatan yang relatif mahal. Salah satu metode yang digunakan dalam industri perbaikan yaitu Arc Spot Welding (ASW). Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh variasi sudut spotweld dengan metode Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) terhadap nilai shear strength dan struktur mikro pada baja SS400. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan plat baja SS400 tebal 0,8 mm dengan elektroda E6013 dan variasi sudut pengelasan 30°, 45°, dan 60°. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi uji geser dan uji metalografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi sudut spotweld memengaruhi sifat mekanik dan struktur mikro sambungan las. Nilai shear strength tertinggi diperoleh pada sudut 30° sebesar 97,56 MPa, kemudian menurun pada sudut 45° sebesar 95,65 MPa dan sudut 60° sebesar 91,77 MPa. Struktur mikro didominasi oleh fasa ferrite dan pearlite, dengan acicular ferrite pada daerah weld metal. Selain itu, peningkatan sudut pengelasan menyebabkan ukuran butir cenderung membesar sehingga berkontribusi terhadap penurunan nilai shear strength. Dengan demikian, sudut 30° memberikan karakteristik sambungan terbaik pada baja SS400.
