Abstract
Perkembangan industri otomotif nasional menunjukkan perkembangan ekosistem kendaraan menuntut inovasi dalam teknik manufaktur dan perbaikan, khususnya pada metode penyambungan pelat tipis yang menjadi komponen utama strukutur kendaraan. Meskipun Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) merupakan standar umum dalam produksi massal, metode ini memiliki keterbatasan teknis pada aksesibilitas area sempit dan pengendalian kualitas pada substrat logam tipis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengaktifkan efektivitas metode Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) sebagai solusi alternatif dalam penyambungan komponen inner fender berbahan baja karbon rendah SS400. Metode eksperimen dilakukan dengan mengaplikasikan variasi arus pengelasan sebesar 40A, 50A, dan 60A dengan waktu tahan konstan selama 5 detik. Kualitas sambungan dibahas melalui uji tegangan geser dan analisis mikrostruktur menggunakan pengujian metalografi. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memvalidasi parameter arus optimal yang menghasilkan penetrasi lebih dalam serta kualitas sambungan yang lebih baik dibandingkan metode konvensional. Selain itu, penelitian ini memberikan referensi bagi industri dan perbaikan kendaraan untuk meningkatkan perbaikan struktur bodi kendaraan melalui arus yang lebih akurat pada material SS400.
