Abstract

Quality control is an important aspect of the production process to ensure that the products meet the company standards. One of the production practices for Aqua gallons (without water) at PT. Tirta Investama still shows various types of defects, such as leaking gallons, dented gallons, dirty gallons, and misprinted caps. Therefore, an attribute control chart that can consider the severity level of each type of defect is needed. This study aims to analyze the performance of the Bellanitech machine and the Bardi machine using U control charts and fuzzy U control charts. The study involves daily production data and the number of defective products during October 2023. The analysis steps include descriptive analysis, Poisson distribution fit test, overdispersion test, compiling U control charts, forming fuzzy weights based on the historical proportion of defect types represented in trapezoidal fuzzy numbers, and compiling fuzzy U control charts. Based on the analysis results, the production process on both machines is generally in a statistically controlled condition, so it can be said that the performance of both machines is good. This study concludes that a fuzzy U control chart with weighting based on the proportion of defects can be a more effective alternative in quality control because it can accommodate uncertainty and differences in the severity levels among types of defects.
