Abstract
Limbah logam berat seperti Pb yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan manusia, apabila terakumulasi di perairan, secara langsung maupun tidak langsung bisa membahayakan kehidupan organisme. Limbah Pb yang telah tercemar pada perairan dengan konsentrasi tertentu dapat menyebabkan banyak kematian pada banyak biota. Terakumulasinya logam berat Pb dalam organ tubuh manusia dapat mengakibatkan gangguan kesehatan seperti anemia, gangguan syaraf, gangguan sistem ginjal, otak dan kulit oleh sebab itu, peneliti berupaya membuat adsorben ion logam timbal berbahan dasar kulit buah lai untuk mengadsorpsi logam berat Pb dari kegiatan industri sebelum dibuang ke lingkungan perairan. Tujuan pada penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan penyerapan logam Pb2+ dari adsorben buah lai dengan variasi waktu kontak 5, 15, dan 30 menit terhadap larutan logam dan juga untuk menganalisis kemampuan penyerapan logam Pb2+ dari adsorben buah lai dengan variasi jumlah karbon aktif sebesar 0,1, 0,3, dan 0,5 gram terhadap larutan logam. Pengujian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu FTIR, AAS dan. Hasil Pengujian FTIR yaitu ditemukannya gugus C-H alkena C=C aromatic alkilhalida atau haloalkana. Daya adsorpsi optimum dari adsorben karbon aktif kulit lai pada ion logam Pb2+ dengan variasi massa dan waktu kontak terjadi pada massa 0,3 gram dan waktu kontak 5 menit dengan daya adsorpsi sebesar 6,05 mg/g. Hasil pengujian SAA pada karbon aktif kulit lai didapatkan nilai luas permukaan 12,895 m2/g, volume pori sebesar 0,031 cc/g, dan diameter rata-rata pori sebesar 38,442 Å.
